Many of us want smooth, silky skin but are tired of the process it takes to achieve it. Waxing, plucking, and shaving require your time, money, and plenty of effort. Plus, the results don’t last very long. Before you know it, you’ll have to start all over again.
If you’re looking for a cost-effective and permanent solution, Ultimate Health Clinic can help. We offer laser hair removal to help clients get rid of unwanted hair for good. To achieve the best possible results, there are a few things you should know before treatment begins. Below, we’ve shared some tips to help ensure a successful hair removal experience.
Commit to Multiple Appointments
After your first few treatments, you will see significant results. Sometimes, this leads people to believe that they need fewer appointments. However, it takes several visits to finish the hair removal process.
Hair grows in three stages. They are called the anagen, catagen, and telogen hair cycles. The length of these cycles depends on the treated area. For laser removal to work, a follicle must be in the anagen phase. During this phase, the hair is attached by its root and actively growing.
This is why you must have multiple treatments to guarantee permanent removal. Each treatment will be about four to eight weeks apart, depending on the treated area. This four to eight week gap is the amount of time needed to transition your hair back to its active growth phase.
Fast and Consistent Treatments
The amount of time it takes to complete your hair removal session will depend on the area treated. Most appointments range from 5 minutes up to a little over an hour. However, no matter how fast your session is, it’s important not to miss a single one. To see the best possible hair removal outcome, you must stay consistent.
Prepare by Shaving
While you may already know this, we thought it was important to mention. 24 hours before your laser hair removal session, you must shave the treatment area. Without shaving, the laser may target your skin, instead of the hair follicle it’s meant to be destroying.
Avoid Sun Exposure
You’ve likely heard all your life how important it is to wear sunscreen. If you are getting laser hair removal treatments, you must listen to this warning. Having a tan will affect your treatment. Your technician also may be unable to treat you if you have tanned or sunburned in the last 14 days. This is for your safety as the extra energy needed from the laser can result in an adverse skin reaction.
By wearing sunscreen daily, you can help prevent any reactions. We recommend an SPF of 35 or higher and that the sunscreen includes active ingredients like zinc oxide.
